Group

Keeping your Edit Mode workspace organized is important when you're working with so many modular components for your page designs. The Group tool helps you do just that, and more.

Examples

The Group tool is focused solely on improving your workflow and organization in Edit Mode. It does not create any output on the published page, thus we don't have anything we can show you here as an example.

I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.

Group aims to help you organize your workspace, and in doing so help improve your workflow. You can group other tools and content, label items, keep notes and more.

You can even make use of the Group tool within Blacksmith to keep your related stylesheets together.

Settings

General

Edit Mode Title

Allows you to add a custom label to the top title bar of the tool. This lets you quickly identify what purpose you're using that tool for in your layout. This title is also visible when you've collapsed or hidden the contents of the tool in Edit Mode.

Add Note to Group

When this setting is enabled you'll be provided a note field in the Edit Mode area to allow you to jot down details about the items you've grouped together. The note area in Group is Markdown enabled, allowing you to use Markdown's formatting to style your notes.

Outline & Background

These two color pickers give you the ability to adjust the border and background colors of this instance of the Group tool to color code it and make it stand out for organization.

Collapse In Edit Mode

Hides the contents of this instance of this tool to tidy up Edit Mode. The border and background colors will be maintained for organization and an icon will replace the contents of the tool to indicate that it has been collapsed.
